Turning the tables on Blog spammers

One of the things that interests me is why do so many spammers bother to spam in the first place, if they took half the energy they use to spam with and did some real work they could make some real money selling real products, however they usually just keep on doing what they have been doing which does not work. . .

There is more than one way to skin a spammer?

Why spammers target blogs and what do they think it will do for them?

Spamming blog’s can also be known as blog spam, comment spam and splogs. All of these are known as spamdexing. Any website that accepts and displays hyperlinks may well become a target of blog spamming.

The spamming of blogs, forums, chat rooms, etc is when comments are automatically posted that are promoting spammers sites. These comments rarely feature any text and normally just consist of the spammers link.

By doing this spammers are increasing there search engine ranking, which can result in the spammers site being listed ahead of other sites. Spammers use these chat rooms, forums, blogs, etc to post links back to their site because it is a way of getting people to visit their site and, sadly, sometimes spend money on the spammers products.

Blog spamming originates from guestbook spamming. Spammers would visit sites only to fill the sites guestbook up with numerous links taking you to their site. Guestbook’s were intended to be used by genuine visitors to the site, for them to comment on the use of the site. Spammers rarely even bother to add a comment to the various links they are posting; if they do it would simply say something like “cool site.”

In 2003 spammers really started to take advantage of the fact they could get away with posting in blogs, forums, etc. Many blog sites and forums started to add software to try and stop the spammers, but as the technology grew so did the spammers knowledge of how to get around it. Spammers started using tools such as Trackback Submitter, which allowed spammers to get around comment spam protection.

There are certain things that site owners can do to stop spammers posting. Validation tests are a way of blocking spam comments on forums, blogs, etc. A validation test is a way of showing that an actual person is posting a comment and that the comment isn’t just being automated.

A Captcha test is like a validation test, again it makes it clear that a comment is being posted by a human and not just being automated. A captcha is a combination of numbers and letters that are embedded in an image. The combination of letters and numbers has to be entered correctly in order for your comment to be posted. Spammers are already trying to get around the captcha test, with many spam tools having text recognition built into them, this is why the numbers/letters that are embedded into the image are slightly distorted so they can’t be picked up by the text recognition. However site owners have to be careful when using a captcha test as some of them are case sensitive and with the distortion of the letters it can become difficult to recognize if the letters are in lower or upper case.

Validation tests can also put some people off posting comments because the tests can sometimes be seen as a nuisance.

When spammers post comments containing website links as a way of trying to get their site at a higher ranking in the search engines, they will be faced with the possibility of their efforts failing as many links relating to spam sites, are getting altered to that Google, amongst other search engines won’t include them in the search engine ranking at all.

Spam is something that the Internet could do without but will never truly get rid of. It is important that you protect your email account and website as much as you can against spammers.

Kajabi good bad or just plain Ugly

Just curious anyone seen all the big high dollar bucks,
from using the great and mighty jabi?

I mean it was a great and exciting video to watch but have you seen the results that they said you could get?

Has there been even two or three success stories that are verifiable with a CPA or a 1099 form?

Well the latest and greatest Guru product has been launched, which some have said is little more than a monthly rental which like its cousin the automobile lease you get dinged for going over the mileage quota.

There are hundreds of people promoting this thing and for the most part, if you have plenty of money and dont care what you get in return for your efforts, then perhaps its a good thing.

The thing here is that renting is never a good idea, and that is basically what this is rent.

While some are declaring how great it is many many others allegedly are telling how not great it is.

The biggest problem they have is the idea that at the end of the day this may end up at the bottom of a very large pile of Guru Garbage, (allegedly) since they prohibit you from making a copy of your own product, which you upload, including video, text and or anything in between, what you are agreeing to do is to pay a “rental” fee monthly and once you decide that you want to stop paying all your work goes poof up in smoke.

They openly state that they have used Amazon Web Services as at least all or part of the platform.

Which means that your relying on a third party for your product and you have no recourse if something bad happens.

I think they could have done a better job, but in the end, Caveat Emptor people, Buyer Beware.

Blogging

The art of content creation for professional bloggers is more than just about generating content but it is more about generating unique and brand-able content that produces results.

Is it only for the few and the proud, the bloggers that can make a living using a wordpress website.

Is blogging about writing and producing content or is it about your knowledge and communication skills.

Blogging is all about communication and it is about writing too.

By now you should know what a Blog is and if you are blogging and writing Let’s face it, writing is not always an easy thing to do but if you really have a passion for the subject you can do well when you write online.

Add content to the post, by expanding your blog material, writing and blogging are really two different things, writing is all about being perfect, blogging does not have to be that strict in fact you can do a lot with just your style of writing.

Case in point.

Blogs are everywhere.

They are literally everywhere, and you’ve probably also heard that there is a lot of money to be made with them too. I’m guessing you’d like to get in on the action…
Welcome to Blogging Profit Formula.

The idea of this is to show you how blogs can be a complete money making system in their own right.

One thing that so many people seem to forget is that content and a plan for developing your website is something that you cannot defer to a later time.

You can start out with nothing and have a blog up and running on the internet in next to no time, and once it’s online you can monetize it in a number of ways, or you could decide to ‘flip’ your blog and make money that way too.

This is a preview of a product about blogging, it has some good information that if your going to go into blogging or even just creating a website.

I’m going to start right from the beginning and take you through everything.

By the time you’re finished you’ll have your own blog up and running online that’s ready to make you money.
This of course isn’t the only way of using a blog.

A blog can be just one part of a much larger business, and if that’s you then you’ll find this information not only interesting but also of benefit too because many of the same principles apply.

Why outsourcing by the hour is a waste of your money

If you want to throw away your money, pay someone by the hour.

Just like you would if you pay someone to mow your lawn, by the hour it will cost you twice as much as by the job.

Simply because you loose your ability and leverage as a buyer, if you depend on someone to do work by the hour the one thing you can count on is that they will have no motivation to finish the job quickly, in fact they will likely take twice as long to do the same work.

Out sourcing by the hour is bad, then you will never, have to worry about who these people are…

Because in reality these guys will do nothing but take your money and rip you off.

Now on to the topic at hand and this is a good topic and one that I can tell you from experience is full of danger for the developer because frankly the idea that you can trust a developer to do the right thing is almost non existent. What I mean here is the idea that an outsourced developer will work by the hour and will do the job for which they are being paid.

So this brings up the idea of working by the job as opposed to working by the hour.

Which is better and how can you get it right the first time.

Well for sure it is better to work by the job, why, well for one thing it is better for both the developer and the customer or client. Think about it say you are an experienced and a talented developer or designer, you know your job, you can do in one hour what it takes others four hours to do, you do it because you have done it so many time before that you could do it in your sleep. Working by the job makes sense to you, so why do platforms, like base camp, provide hourly services, well they do it for the money, and we dont say this to be mean to base camp, they are a good company, but beware of a developer that wants you to pay upfront, on an hourly project because, eventually you will find that they have no incentive to do anything but take your money and find as many reasons to bill you more by the hour.

Just like an attorney will bill you for the lunch they have with you, (working lunch) these guys are worse than an attorney.

Recently I hired a company on base camp, we had an agreement to fix a scripting problem, they wanted a deposit to begin the work, I said, ok, so I paid the deposit, three days later, they apologize that they have not been able to get around to working on the project, keep in mind that this is a maximum of 2 hours to fix this problem.

So, we go through two weeks of sending messages back and forth, and we come to the conclusion that it all needs to be re done because it just is no good, ( surprise surprise surprise ) now its going to be 20 plus hours to fix it, see what I mean, If I had gone to a pay by the job I could have had it fixed by now, and it would have only taken 2 hours to fix.

But these clowns, take three weeks, to tell me what I already knew, and then had the Balls, to ask for another deposit, so they could re do the entire project by the hour, let me tell you that they would never have finished the project, why?

Because they had no incentive to fix the project, because they are getting paid by the hour, there is not need to finish the project, they just keep billing and billing and billing, I can tell you from experience, never hire anyone to do anything by the hour because you are wasting your money.

Need you house painted, it will take them a month to paint it.

Hire them to paint it by the job, and they can get it done in a weekend.

Get the picture. I sure do, hope you can learn by my mistake, never hire a developer by the hour, because all you are doing is wasting you money. So let me tell you from my own experience never ever, hire a developer by the hour because they will never do what they say they will do, they will never perform, because they have no need to.
